Created by artist Georgia Saxelby, To Future Women marks the one year anniversary of the Women's March. The project will invite participants throughout America, and the world, to write a letter to women in twenty years time.
Part art and part history, these letters will be archived for twenty years in Washington DC and re-exhibited in 2037 on the 20th anniversary of the Women's March by participating national cultural institutions. To Future Women will use the platform of art to historicize one of the largest national and globally-networked protests in American history while creating a time capsule for the next generation of women.
What do you want to say to future women?
This project will launch on 21st January, 2018 in Washington, DC and continue for six months as a pop-up installation in cultural institutions and public locations throughout DC. Anyone is welcome to add their voice to this conversation between eras by posting the artist a letter to be archived.
To Future Women is supported by Halcyon Arts Lab, IA&A at Hillyer and Stable.
